Phalaenopsis are the species of orchid you're probably familiar with. They're sold at grocery and hardware stores, usually for more than other plants. If you're living north of Florida then you have to keep your orchid inside. It is a finicky flower with particular needs.
This terrarium with a top is idea for maintaining humidity conditions, which is essential to orchid care. While it is tempting to leave the top on, in order to avoid molding you'll have to periodically remove the top and let it dry out. There are stones at the bottom of the terrarium to allow for water to pool below the soil. This will also help prevent mold, while the orbeez will provide a slow release of moisture. A good indication of the health of your orchid will be the roots. They should thick and a bright green.
